WIP Beastkin post Empty WIP Beastkin post

May as well use my school time to write down all the ideas in my head.

The Beastkin were originally created by a group of human and elf mages in an attempt to allow mages to transform into animal forms at will. The resulting spell backfired and the building full of scientists, around 200 or so, were stuck between two forms and became the first beastking, now known as Purekin because they were perfectly between their human form and the animal they were bonded to. Over time, they began to accept that this is what they were and found they could breed with others of their own 'species' to produce young. A fox beastkin however, could not breed with a wolf beastkin.

After several decades, the purekin population grew so much that they began to form their own communities where they could leave in peace while some chose to live out among the other races of the world. While there was a lot of prejudice against these particular halfbreeds, half-elves already having become common, there were people who accept the animalistic people as they were. Some humans and elves, weirdos that they are, found the purekin attractive and some began to reproduce with them. It then became known that if a child is born of a purekin and a human, they will have less animal traits with each generation until the animal bloodline is so weak that the young would eventually just be human.

After centuries, the world is full of beastkin of varying degrees and it'd be near impossible to walk down a street in a crowded city without at least seeing a pair of animal ears or a tail somewhere. The purekin still have communities in towns apart from the cities of the other races but more human-like beastkin are common in cities of every nation. A lot of racial prejudice still exists in some nations, mostly in places like Vironeos who are very human and elf elitist and consider the beastkin a stain that occurs when mortal try to play god.

Different levels of beastkin-ness have different animals traits. An example is a lion beastkin who say only has ears and a tail. They may be born with the natural ability to purr or growl or have extra-sharp teeth or nails. Someone who is more human than that may not have the ability to purr or growl. The closer to a purekin one is, the more animal traits they exhibit along with the more noticable animal features.

That looks good to me. Maybe update the references to sounds to say it more simply. Like saying that they could have the ability to make bestial sounds or something?

Yeah. This is just my unedited thoughts. When I make a compendium post, I'll make it simpler and easier to understand.
